margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p data-start=\"62\" data-end=\"306\"><strong data-start=\"62\" data-end=\"76\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-45117\" src=\"https:\/\/washkhabar.com\/np\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/waster-Sanitation.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1391\" height=\"649\" srcset=\"https:\/\/washkhabar.com\/np\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/waster-Sanitation.jpg 1391w, https:\/\/washkhabar.com\/np\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/waster-Sanitation-300x140.jpg 300w, https:\/\/washkhabar.com\/np\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/waster-Sanitation-1024x478.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/washkhabar.com\/np\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/waster-Sanitation-768x358.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1391px) 100vw, 1391px\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"62\" data-end=\"306\"><strong data-start=\"62\" data-end=\"76\">Kathmandu:<\/strong> The World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children\u2019s Fund (UNICEF) have released a new report revealing that two out of every five people in Nepal still do not have access to safely managed sanitation services.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"308\" data-end=\"507\">The report, titled <em data-start=\"327\" data-end=\"424\">\u201cProgress on Household Drinking Water and Sanitation 2000\u20132024: Special Focus on Inequalities,\u201d<\/em> was launched on August 26 during the World Water Week held in Stockholm, Sweden.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"509\" data-end=\"791\">The data for Nepal was prepared by the Joint Monitoring Programme (JMP), based on the Census 2021, the National Living Standards Survey (NLSS) 2022\/23, the Nepal Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS) 2022, and the Urban Nepal Sanitation Snapshot 2025, among other national surveys.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"793\" data-end=\"822\"><strong>Key findings for Nepal:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul data-start=\"823\" data-end=\"1069\">\n<li data-start=\"823\" data-end=\"905\">\n<p data-start=\"825\" data-end=\"905\"><strong data-start=\"825\" data-end=\"852\">\u2022 2 out of every 5 people<\/strong> lack access to safely managed sanitation services.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"906\" data-end=\"992\">\n<p data-start=\"908\" data-end=\"992\"><strong data-start=\"908\" data-end=\"935\">\u2022\u00a0 1 out of every 4 people<\/strong> lack access to safely managed drinking water services.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"993\" data-end=\"1069\">\n<p data-start=\"995\" data-end=\"1069\"><strong data-start=\"995\" data-end=\"1022\">\u2022\u00a0 1 out of every 3 people<\/strong> lack access to basic handwashing facilities.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 data-start=\"1071\" data-end=\"1134\"><strong>Acceleration needed globally to achieve the 2030 targets:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul data-start=\"1135\" data-end=\"1542\">\n<li data-start=\"1135\" data-end=\"1225\">\n<p data-start=\"1137\" data-end=\"1225\"><strong data-start=\"1137\" data-end=\"1164\">\u2022 3 times faster progress<\/strong> is required to achieve universal access to drinking water.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1226\" data-end=\"1309\">\n<p data-start=\"1228\" data-end=\"1309\"><strong data-start=\"1228\" data-end=\"1255\">\u2022 8 times faster progress<\/strong> is required for safely managed sanitation services.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1310\" data-end=\"1388\">\n<p data-start=\"1312\" data-end=\"1388\"><strong data-start=\"825\" data-end=\"852\">\u2022 <\/strong>The current pace is <strong data-start=\"1332\" data-end=\"1346\">sufficient<\/strong> to sustain open defecation-free status.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1389\" data-end=\"1466\">\n<p data-start=\"1391\" data-end=\"1466\"><strong data-start=\"1391\" data-end=\"1423\">\u2022 3 to 6 times faster progress<\/strong> is needed for basic sanitation services.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1467\" data-end=\"1542\">\n<p data-start=\"1469\" data-end=\"1542\"><strong data-start=\"1469\" data-end=\"1496\">\u2022\u00a0 2 times faster progress<\/strong> is needed for basic handwashing facilities.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1544\" data-end=\"1717\">The report concludes that to ensure universal access to drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene by 2030, the world must make significantly greater efforts than at present.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kathmandu: The World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children\u2019s Fund (UNICEF) have released a new report revealing that two out of every five people in Nepal still do not have access to safely managed sanitation services.
