Manthali: The wastewater treatment plant constructed in Manthali, the district headquarters of Ramechhap, is being upgraded to a hybrid technology system. Although the plant was completed in 2019 (B.S. 2076) based on the Anaerobic Baffled Reactor (ABR) technology, it had not come into operation due to various technical and operational challenges.<\/p>\n

Now, efforts are underway to rehabilitate the existing structure and convert it into a modern Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) system. With the implementation of this new technology, the project aims to effectively treat wastewater generated from around 500 households in the Manthali market area.<\/p>\n

According to Rajendra Shrestha, Chief of the Water Supply and Sewerage Management Office, Manthali, the shift to a new system became necessary due to the limitations of the previous technology.<\/p>\n

He stated, \u201cAlthough the ABR system is based on natural processes and is relatively simple to operate, it has shown certain limitations in terms of efficiency and long-term management. Therefore, we are now upgrading to the MBBR system to make wastewater management in Manthali more effective.\u201d<\/p>\n

The MBBR technology is a modern wastewater treatment method based on biofilm processes, where microorganisms grow on plastic media to treat polluted water quickly and efficiently. The implementation of this system is expected not only to improve the quality of treated water but also to significantly contribute to environmental pollution control.<\/p>\n

Local residents believe that the long-idle treatment plant coming into operation will have a positive impact on sanitation, odor control, and overall environmental improvement in the Manthali market area.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the technical team involved in the project has accelerated structural improvements, mechanical installation, and testing work. Preparations are underway to formally bring the wastewater treatment system into operation upon completion.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
