Charikot<\/span><\/span>: Preparations are underway to bring the Decentralized Wastewater Treatment System (DEWATS) in Charikot into operation.<\/p>\n

The project, constructed through the Project Management Office under the Urban Water Supply and Sanitation (Sectoral) Project of the Department of Water Supply and Sewerage Management, has now reached the operational stage.<\/p>\n

Built with loan assistance from the Asian Development Bank, the system was established targeting the market areas of Bhimeshwor Municipality wards no. 3, 4, and 6, including the Charikot bazaar area. Although the project has already been completed, it could not come into full operation as all households had not yet been connected to the pipeline network.<\/p>\n

According to Rajendra Shrestha, Chief of the Water Supply and Sewerage Management Office, Manthali, preparations are now underway to connect the remaining households to the pipeline network and bring the DEWATS system into operation. \u201cThe project has already been completed, but not all houses have been connected yet. We now plan to include the remaining houses and operate the system,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

For this purpose, Bhimeshwor Municipality<\/span><\/span> has already made a decision through an executive meeting, and all remaining households will now be connected to the pipeline network, according to Chief Shrestha. \u201cAll the infrastructure required for wastewater treatment has already been prepared. The system will be brought into operation as soon as the sewer connections of all households are linked to the treatment network,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The contract for the construction of sewer networks and two modern wastewater treatment centers in wards no. 3, 4, and 6 of Bhimeshwor Municipality was awarded for NPR 557.383 million, including VAT, against an estimated project cost of NPR 720 million.<\/p>\n

An agreement was signed on 11 July 2021 with the Chinese company GYECL\/Bhimeshwor Drilling and Construction Service JV to complete the work within two years. Once the project comes into operation, it is expected to improve wastewater management in the Charikot area and contribute to better sanitation and environmental conditions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
