Kathmandu: Smart Water Solutions held a meeting today to discuss plans for a practical manual on rainwater harvesting, designed for use in homes and institutions. The meeting brought together experts from engineering, agriculture, education and various other fields to share their views on what the guide should include.

The discussion focused on identifying missing pieces in the current proposal. The main point raised was that the manual must work for different regions. Experts stressed that local conditions like soil type, landscape and rainfall patterns should be considered in the manual. A method suited to one climate or ground type may not work in another, so the manual needs to offer flexible, location-specific guidance.

Everyone present expressed commitment to contributing their knowledge and expertise to help create the manual. Further steps will consist of holding technical discussions and incorporating input from expert groups. The proposal to create the manual will be submitted to the International Rainwater Harvesting Alliance for further support.
