Sokan Ghari, Jayamangal Declared a Total Sanitation Village

Sindhuli : Sokan Ghari, Jayamangal of Marin Rural Municipality–7 was officially declared a clean village on June 14, 2026, marking a major achievement in promoting community health, hygiene, sanitation, and a child-friendly environment.

The milestone was realized through the successful implementation of the Clean Home and Tole Declaration Campaign by HANDS Nepal under the Girls Standing Strong (GSS) Project in partnership with Plan International Nepal.

The clean village covered a total of 28 households and the campaign marked the community’s collective commitment to maintaining clean homes and surroundings, fostering healthy living practices, and creating a safe and dignified environment for children, girls, and all community members. A declaration program was organized by Marin ward no. 7, which was chaired by Mr. Chandra Bahadur Thing, Ward Chairperson of Ward No. 7.

The program was graced by Mr. Bimarsh Moktan, Chairperson of Marin Rural Municipality, as the Chief Guest and Ms. Bimala Majhi, Vice Chairperson of Marin Rural Municipality as the Special Guest, which demonstrates the local government’s strong commitment to community-led sanitation and well-being initiatives.

The event witnessed active participation from local stakeholders, community leaders, and residents, whose collaborative efforts made the declaration possible. The initiative reflects the community’s growing awareness and shared responsibility in promoting cleanliness, improving public health, and ensuring a supportive environment where children and adolescents can thrive.

The Clean Home and Tole Declaration Program also highlighted the importance of partnerships between local governments, communities, and development organizations in advancing sustainable development goals at the grassroots level. HANDS Nepal extends its sincere appreciation to Plan International Nepal for its continuous support, technical guidance, and collaboration in implementing the Girls Standing Strong (GSS) Project.

The organization also expresses heartfelt gratitude to Marin Rural Municipality, Ward No. 7, community members, and all stakeholders whose dedication and collective efforts contributed to the successful accomplishment of this initiative.  Together, these collaborative actions are paving the way for healthier, cleaner, and more resilient communities where every child and family can live with dignity and opportunity.
