Lalitpur : A one-day training on the Right to Water and Sanitation (RTWS) was successfully conducted in Chhampi on Monday, bringing together members of water user committees, local representatives, stakeholders, and technical personnel.
The main objective of the training was to strengthen understanding of water and sanitation as fundamental human rights, improve service delivery, and promote inclusive participation at the local level. Organizers said the program was designed to support better governance and ensure communities are more aware of their rights and responsibilities related to WASH services.

The program was initiated by Field Coordinator Biswanath Shrestha of CIUD, who began the session by introducing all participants and creating an interactive learning environment. The training was facilitated by Biswanath Shrestha (CIUD) and Anand Gautam (WaterAid).

During the session, participants were oriented on key topics including the concept of RTWS as a fundamental human right, components of safe water supply and sanitation, equity and inclusion, and the roles and responsibilities of service providers and communities.
The facilitators also discussed service standards, accountability mechanisms, and grievance handling processes to help ensure effective implementation of water and sanitation services.
In addition, relevant laws and policies related to water and sanitation were discussed, enabling participants to better understand their legal rights, duties, and institutional responsibilities.

Participants actively engaged in the discussions and expressed their commitment to applying the knowledge in their respective communities.
The training is expected to contribute to improved water and sanitation governance in Chhampi through stronger rights-based and inclusive service delivery practices.
