Kathamandu : USAID Deputy Mission Director, Adriana Hayes spoke at the launch event of the USAID Karnali Water Activity. Hayes said, “We’re here because Nepal’s Constitution says that every person shall have the right to live in a healthy and clean environment and we realized that Nepali is committed to making that happen and achieving the Sustainable Development Goal – Universal Access to Safely Managed Drinking Water and Sanitation by 2030.”
She elaborated a bit on the challenges Nepal has to address on the course of achieving the goal. Hayes said that they were really excited that they could work with the government of Nepal to manage limited water resources and ultimately reach the goal.
She mentioned “This activity is exciting for the USAID because it brings together various things that we have supported and tried in the past but in much small scale so the Karnali Water Activity really allows us to bring strategic engagement in the WASH sector at a higher and larger scale.”
