Nagarkot : In a major step toward enhancing the capacity of local project staff, Sabal Nepal and the Mahuli Community Development Center (MCDC), in collaboration with WHH Nepal – Welthungerhilfe, successfully concluded a three-day training on WASH System Strengthening. The event, held from August 7-9, 2024, at the National Water Supply and Sanitation Training Center (NWSSTC) in Nagarkot, brought together key project staff to deepen their understanding of sustainable water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) practices.
The training, designed to arm project staff with essential knowledge and tools, covered an extensive array of topics crucial for the development and maintenance of robust WASH systems. Key sessions included:

√ The Nine Building Blocks of Sustainable WASH Systems: Exploring the critical components for enduring impact.
√ Factors Analysis and Accountability Matrix: Understanding the dynamics and responsibilities within WASH frameworks.

√ Governance and Role Devolution: Clarifying the distribution of duties for effective WASH governance.
√ Monitoring, Regulation, and Accountability: Enhancing oversight mechanisms to ensure quality and efficiency.
√ Strategic WASH Planning and Sector Financing: Building financial strategies for sustainable WASH initiatives.
√ Service Delivery Models SWOT Analysis: Evaluating strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in current models.
√ Innovative Approaches in Research, IWRM, and Political Sensitization:Integrating cutting-edge research and data-driven advocacy.
√ Leveraging Data for Political Impact: Using insights and statistics to drive change at the policy level.
Participants left the training with a renewed sense of purpose and an enhanced skill set, ready to implement these strategies in their ongoing projects. The training is expected to catalyze improvements in WASH services, ensuring long-term benefits for the communities they serve.
